A stunning Maple Leaf necklace lovingly handcrafted in copper from a real leaf found in the Devon countryside. This necklace captures all the beautiful detail of the original making it a one of a kind piece. It would make a wonderful gift for yourself or a friend, who loves nature and all its wildness and would compliment any outfit.

I make each piece lovingly by hand, using a real leaf as its basis. I use clay based copper, an unusual but versatile material to make each piece. I have made a mould of the original leaf into which I then press the clay capturing all the beautiful detail. I then burn in a kiln at 873 degrees for 3 hours! This transforms the copper clay into pure copper metal in the exact copy of the original. Its a bit like magic! This copper acts like any other copper at this stage. So I use a flame to bring a unique colouring to the piece. I spray each leaf with a lacquer to prevent it changing colour or turning your skin green! No two pieces will ever be the same. I have shown a couple of examples in the photos.
This Maple Leaf measures approximately 2.5cm by 3cm and is life size. You can choose a 16 or18 inch fine rose filled gold trace chain for your lovely Maple Leaf at checkout. This will not stain your skin green.
Rose gold filled has a solid layer of gold (14k) permanently bonded to a base metal, such as brass. The rose colour is obtained by alloying gold with copper. It is very hard wearing and under normal wear the gold will not peel or flake, unlike gold plate, and is commonly used as a more economical alternative to pure gold. I can not guarantee this chain is hypo-allergenic, although after much wear testing I have not reacted to it.
