Celebrate spring and learn how to use leaves to make your own Silver Jewellery with Silver Clay - Suitable for All

  • Naomi Brookes Designs @ Umborne Bridge Studios Unit 1, Dolphin Street Colyton, EX24 6LU United Kingdom (map)

Do you love leaves, flowers and shells and wondered how to transform them into silver jewellery? Have you ever wanted to make your own silver jewellery but are not sure where to start? Then this class could be for you. In this one day class you will discover the magic of using metal clay and natural items to make hallmark worthy jewellery in just a few hours. You will learn different techniques to capture natural forms such as real leaves, flowers and shells in silver and shape, process, fire (where the magic happens!) and finish your pieces with a few simple tools. Metal clay is a wonderful material and an accessible way to create your own silver jewellery at home and I want to give you the skills to do this after you leave the workshop.  You will leave with at 2 necklaces and earrings to wear at the end of the workshop (or another item if you do not wear earrings!).

To learn more about Metal Clay watch this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1QCYHvLfNKw).

This is suitable for beginners  although some experience of using metal clay may be preferable. I'll provide plenty of inspiration and examples to help you design and make your pieces. All you need to bring is curiosity and a desire to take a few hours for yourself making something beautiful! Please feel free to bring your own leaves, flowers or shells. Aim for something that is no more than 2cm by 2cm in size. Its important to note that your item may be destroyed in the making process.

Umborne Bridge Studios is nestled in the Devon countryside providing a relaxed workshop space with a cafe on site for an extra treat should you want it.

We will have plenty of time for questions and experimentation and of course lots of tea and coffee on hand to keep us fully fuelled in our making. There will be a lunch break during the day - there is a cafe on site or please bring your own lunch to eat sat by the river!
